A Brief History of Christ Unity Church Sacramento

Christ Unity Church has been a presence in the Sacramento area since 1920! This ministry was established as a teaching center, under the guidance of Naomi Anderson. It incorporated in 1947 and John Hinkle soon became the minister, holding services at the Crest Theater, in downtown Sacramento.

In 1966, Dorothy and Phillip Pierson assumed leadership, purchasing the first permanent church home -- an old bowling ally at 1415 L Street, which was converted into a beautiful facility. It was later discovered that the L Street facility was the exact location where Naomi Anderson's groups had met, some forty years earlier! Rev. Jim Lee, Sheila and Dorothy and Phil Pierson

After a brief interim period with Dr. Nicholas and Rev. Carole Griffin, the Board of Trustees selected Rev. Jim Lee as permanent Senior Minister.

Rev. FranCione is Christ Unity's pastoral minister and leads our team of Chaplains.

Christ Unity Church was established as a teaching center, and remains so today; dedicated to the original intent and spirit of the founders of the Unity Movement, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore. There are currently eight Licensed Unity teachers and six teachers-in-training affiliated with this center. Adult education continues to be a major focus of this center.
